The New Springboard

New coworking and community space location opens in Bellefonte

Since 2017, Bellefonte SpringBoard has provided low-cost coworking and flexible desk-rental space, business programming resources, and more. Now for 2023, it’s more than doubled in size: A brand-new location for the coworking space and business innovation center has undergone a complete transformation which lends itself to expanded programming, even more rental options, and invaluable resources for the entire Bellefonte business community.

Resources for current and aspiring business owners

Downtown Bellefonte Inc.’s (DBI) overall mission is to support economic growth in the community — making it a great place to not only live and visit, but to do business as well. Bellefonte SpringBoard was dreamed up by local leaders, initially launching in early 2017, as part of DBI’s mission.

Managed by the Downtown Bellefonte Inc. staff and volunteers, SpringBoard has helped numerous businesses “spring” their idea into action since that time. As connectors in the community, the faces behind SpringBoard strive to facilitate conversations between aspiring and existing business owners and partners throughout the region — connecting them to any resource possible to help make their business dreams a reality.

Programming at SpringBoard is geared towards entrepreneurs of all types and sizes. On the schedule regularly, find free opportunities like:

How to Start a Business in Bellefonte — an ongoing series that’s held with partners throughout the community, allowing businesses the opportunity to learn about Bellefonte-specific considerations when opening a shop, restaurant, or other type of business.

Ask a Lawyer — A monthly event with Rodney Beard, of Beard Law Co., when attendees can get free legal advice for their business.

Ask an Accountant — A monthly event with Joe Minich, of Ridgeline Business Solutions, where financial advice is offered to attendees that can help their businesses get off the ground or scale.

Ask an Insurance Agent — A monthly event with Nick Folk, of Logan Branch Insurance, where new and seasoned business owners can understand insurance options and the implications it has on their businesses.

Open Marketing Office Hours — Monthly drop-in office hours with Ellen Matis, owner of Hello Social Co., for business owners or their team members to talk through marketing challenges and opportunities at no cost.

Ask a Banker – Ken Schirling of Arize Federal Credit Union will be available at SpringBoard on the second Wednesday of every month. Ken is there to answer any questions one may have about their business’s banking options. Arize also offers advice on small business and commercial real estate loans.

Coworking for entrepreneurs and remote workers

Working “remotely” is a concept that no longer carries the stigma that it once did — it’s an outdated cliche that remote workers aren’t as productive or don’t work as “hard” as their in-office counterparts.

With large companies and small businesses alike making the shift to allowing hybrid or totally flexible remote work options, the workforce looks to options like coworking spaces for an opportunity to get out of the house, work from a professional, office-like setting, and be surrounded by other like-minded workers.

SpringBoard offers flexible membership options — full-time, part-time, student, and day-pass rates — where members can utilize the space with access to amenities like a video conferencing room, full kitchen, high-speed internet, and more.

Expanded event and rental offerings

The new location for SpringBoard was designed with events in mind. The space can transform seamlessly from a coworking/office-like environment to an event space that allows for corporate or private cocktail parties, sit-down events, and other events that the Bellefonte community dreams up.

In addition, SpringBoard offers two rentable conference rooms — perfect for hosting meetings or workshops.
